Central Bank of India CC-Mar24.pdf · 2024-04-30
Sir, going forward, since the Central Bank has now again have almost reached to or reaching to its past glories, how do we see the coming year now going forward -- are we still going to be a little conservative in our targets and estimate or we want to open up ? And a bank of our size, where lot of scope is there to g row rapidly as compared to some of the other large peer banks, so I want to hear, sir about your plans or your ideas for the next whole year for the Bank, sir, where are we heading, sir?
And sir, now where do we see the ROA which has come up to now 0.76 % for this quarter and with this kind of mix increasing RAM 63% and corporate 37%

Thank you for this opportunity. And congratulations, madam, once again for the fantastic set of numbers. I think the Union Bank has really accelerated its entire business growth. You talk about recovery. It's phenomenal growth over the last one, one and a half years. So congratulations for that. Having said that, madam, our credit growth advances have gone rapidly much beyond even the targets. Like if you have given the target of 10%, 12%, but if you look at only up to December nine months, it is almost already now 10.62 %. And the way you are going from September to December, you have gone. If you take another four or five percent, it means are we talking about almost about 15% to 16% growth in the credit?
All right Ma’am. Now, taking to some other targets, you know, targeted numbers, like slippages, you have kept very much in control and against INR 12,000 crores, I think so far in nine months, it is only about INR8,000 crores or so. And similarly, for the recovery also, you know, from the targeted INR 16,000 crores, you are almost near to INR 14,000 crores already. So, whether you would like to revisit these numbers or you will give a surprise on that also?

Congratulations, madam for the fantastic set of numbers. There is hardly anything, I mean, which can be pointed out because on all the parameters the Bank has performed very well. An d congratulations to you for raising the capital also of INR 5,000 crores at such a good rate, INR 2,500 crores issue and doubled to INR 5,000 crores with the extra subscription. It's a fantastic job. Also for the rating upgrade because of your performance. And congratulations and welcome to our ED Rudraji to this Bank, Union Bank of India. Having said that, ma'am I have got some certain discussions, certain point of information and your idea on revision of some of the targets because of this performance. Coming first is our slippage target for the whole year is INR 12,000 crores. But up to September, it is only INR 5,400 crores. So you would like to reduce this target, slippage will be more under control? Number one. Similarly, on the recovery side also up to September, we have almost achieved about INR 7,800 crores. So whether the recovery target of INR 16,000 crores also may be upgraded. Can we a little a little optimistic on that? And can I get the answers of this and then we go on…
Point well taken, ma'am, we had already discussed in the earlier question about CASA. Perennial, in fact, our CASA ratio compared to some of the other peer Banks is low at around 34%, 34.5%. And because of that our NIM is also in the range of that 3%, 3.1% or something. So while you are taking as you said actions on increasing the CASA can there be some more aggressive or out of box thinking to increase this CASA ratio over the period of time so that we also match with the other Banks of going beyond 40% or so. Is there any thought to remove some of those obstacles which comes in the way for CASA for us?

And I st art with your award slide you have been receiving several awards best public sector Bank award, nation MSME award, t echnology award, best nationalized Bank in agriculture, retail Bank, so compliments to the entire team. I got some broad in fact macro questions and some observation and why we seek your comment that our growth in terms of you take a business or advances has been I think over the period has been slowed down if you don't compare the corresponding year last year, but if you look at only 9 months of this year and only one quarter is left now. So, when we were expecting the total b usiness of this Bank crossing almost the landmark of these Rs. 5,00,000 crore I think we are lagging behind a lot on that. Even credit growth i n the entire nine months is only 7.7% and just 3% in the last quarter. Of course, you have achieved good results, good net profit, operating profit, good NIM this is one that what is your plan to continue to grow at the pace at which you are growing over last 1.5 to 2.5 years w hich is ke eping Bank of Maharashtra stand alone amongst th e entire Banking fraternity. So, this is one. The second one is our CASA also which used to be 55 % - 56% is sliding from March 53. 38% to 50.71% to now 50.19%. So, there also what is our strategy I mean are we going to keep some lesser targets of the CASA also, so these are the m y first question, these are the broad kind of observations I can get the answer of that?
Yes sir definitely. My second question is on the new initiative on the information technology the slide you have given and also the digital footprint of the Bank I would just like to know I mean real business wise like if you look at the entire delivery of the business whether the cre dit or collections or credit card in this thing, how much actually has become operational and in terms of some value number, some figures that rate will be same today on the digital front?

Good evening, sir. And once again, very rich compliments to you and the entire team for the fantastic performance, continuing the performance of the bank. If you see slide four, out of 15 boxes, 13 are upward only, only two are downward, that is gross NPA and net NPA, which shows the excellent performance of the bank. And even if you look at , year-on-year, it is very good. Even on quarter-on-quarter basis also, net profit is going up, your yield and NIM is going up, ROA is also going up so there is nothing much to comment or to be negatively spoken about it. I have got only a couple of observations, questions, sir. One is on our credit growth. If you look at the credit growth of the hal f year, it is just about INR 8,000 crore, if you compare it to the March figure because now let us look at the financial year '23, '24. So, if today is the 21%, 22% growth of INR 38,500 crore, only INR 8,000 crore has been achieved in -- till September. So, can we say that about INR 30,000 crore will come in only in this next two quarters, the growth in the credit? Similarly on the overall business, a growth of almost about INR 75,000 crore- INR80,000 crore is expected to make it to INR500,000 crore business. So, on both these fronts because deposits are seem to be declining in the last quarter , one question on that, if you can elaborate. And actually, net -net, if the growth is INR 8,000 crore, but what actually is the credit growth in the quarter, the gross credit growth in the quarter?
Sir, my second question is on our digital initiatives. I mean, we are going very strong on that. And in every quarter, we get...
